Defiance Patching Issues

Here you can find various troubleshooting steps for a wide variety of issues you may experience while trying to patch your Defiance game client. If you’re having patching issues after logging into the Patcher Client, please review the troubleshooting information below.

PC Troubleshooting

 

Console Troubleshooting

For Xbox troubleshooting, first clear the system cache and reset system clock before attempting to patch Defiance again. To clear the system cache

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘System Settings.’
  2. Select Storage or Memory.
  3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select; the cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)
  4. Select ‘Clear System Cache.’
  5. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select “Yes.”
  6. Set the time and date
  7. Press the Guide button on your controller for a couple seconds, then release.
  8. Press X to sign out of Xbox Live, then press the A button to confirm.
  9. Press the Guide button on your controller again, then go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘System Settings.’
  10. Select ‘Console Settings.’
  11. Select ‘Clock.’
  12. Change the date on your Xbox 360 to 11/15/2005. Please be aware that you will need to disconnect from Xbox Live in order to change your clock settings.

If you're still having patching issues, delete the update and re-download the latest update

From the Dashboard, click on My Xbox.

  1. Select System Settings.
  2. Select Storage.
  3. Select Hard Drive Device by pressing A.
  4. Select Games and Apps.
  5. Select Game Title.
  6. Delete the Defiance file.
  7. Restart Game.
  8. Download the update when prompted.

 

First for PS3, disable the media servers, then try to patch Defiance

  1. Press the PSN button in the center of your controller to access the main PSN menu.
  2. On the PSN main menu, go to ‘Settings.’
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and select “Network Settings” (select by pressing X).
  4. Select ‘Media Server Connection’ and press the X button.
  5. Select ‘Disable’ and press the X button.

If you're still having patching issues, delete the update and re-download the latest update.

  1. Press the PSN button in the center of your controller to access the main PSN menu.
  2. In the PSN main menu, go to Game.
  3. Scroll down to Game Data Utility.
  4. Important: Make sure you select Game Data Utility. Do NOT select Saved Data Utility.
  5. Highlight the game data utility file for Defiance.
  6. Press the Triangle button and select Delete.
  7. Highlight ‘Yes’ and press the Triangle button to confirm the deletion.

 

Finally, if you're still unable to patch, try power-cycling the modem (PS3 and Xbox)

  1. Turn off your console. When it has shut down completely, proceed to the next step.
  2. If you have a router, remove the power cable. Wait thirty seconds.
  3. Next, remove the power cable from the modem (either at the wall or at the modem). Wait thirty seconds.
  4. Plug your modem back in.
  5. Plug your router back in.
  6. Turn your system back on.
  7. Please try logging back into the game and see if your issue has been resolved/

 

Manual Uninstall

For PS3 Players
Try and delete the Defiance files from your Game Data Utility, so that any updates can be re-downloaded.

  1. In the XMB™ home menu, go to Game then Game Data UtilityImportant: Make sure you select Game Data Utility. Do NOT select 'Saved Data Utility', as this will delete all of your saved games files.
  2. Highlight the game data utility file for Defiance.
  3. Press the Triangle button and select Delete.
  4. Highlight Yes and press the X button to confirm the deletion.
  5. A "Delete completed." message will appear once the file has been successfully deleted.
  6. Reboot Defiance and allow any updates to be downloaded and applied.

For Xbox Players

  1. From the Dashboard, click on My Xbox.
  2. Select System Settings.
  3. Select Storage.
  4. Select Hard Drive Device by pressing "A".
  5. Select Games and Apps.
  6. Select Game Title.
  7. Delete the Defiance file.
  8. Restart Game.
  9. Download the update when prompted.
