Defiance Voice Chat Overview

How do I use voice chat?

Area voice chat is automatically disabled in Defiance, so that you can choose whether or not you would like to make use of it. Group, Clan, and Team voice chat is on by Default. So, if you have your microphone plugged in while using one of those chat channels your team members would automatically be able to hear you every time you spoke into your microphone.

What types of voice chat channels can I use?

The available chat channels in Defiance are listed below.

Area: This chat is used to communicate with players in your direct area. This can be useful for anything from Arkfalls to general trade requests.

Grp: This is group chat, so utilizing this chat channel will ensure you are only speaking with individuals in your group at that given time. This can be useful for completing objectives with other players.

Team: This is the channel you will use for Shadow War, and any competitive match. It will enable you to chat with all of the members of your team. This is useful for acting as a tactical team, from planning an attack to determining who gets to drive the Cerberus.

Clan: Should you join a clan in Defiance, this channel will enable you to speak directly to the members of your clan that are online currently. You can use this chat for anything from finding a group within your clan members, to catching up with your friends in the clan.

How do I switch between voice chat channels?

You can only speak in one channel at any given time. To change between each channel you can follow the steps below.
